ALL STATE - ALL VOLUNTEER POST

Private First Class Lawrence Casey Garrett, casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army, PFC Garrett served our country until November 30th, 1968 in Binh Duong, South Vietnam.  Lawrence was born on August 15th, 1947 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was 21 years old.

The VFW, with its Auxiliaries, includes 2.6 million members in approximately 9,000 Posts worldwide.
Our accomplishments are many, including lobbying for a GI bill for the 20th century; donating more than $1 million each to the Vietnam, Korean, Women in the Service and World War II memorials; fighting for compensation to veterans diagnosed with Gulf War Syndrome; and improving VA medical centers services for women veterans. In 2001, VFW unveiled its tribute to service and country with its dedication of
Centennial Plaza .  Annually, VFW members and its Ladies Auxiliary contribute more than 13 million hours of volunteerism in the community, including participation in Make A Difference Day and National Volunteer Week. From providing $2.5 million in college scholarships to high school students every year to encouraging elevation of the Veterans Administration to the president's cabinet, the VFW is there-- honoring the dead by helping the living.

THANK  YOU  VOLUNTEERS OF VFW 7968

FOR ALL YOU DO - YOUR COMMANDER

HEAVEN HELP THE VOLUNTEER

Many will be shocked to find when the day of judgment nears.
That there's a special place in heaven set aside for volunteers.  Furnished with big recliners, satin couches and footstools.  Where there's no committee chairman, group leaders or car pools.  No eager team that needs a coach.  No bazaar and no bake sales.  There will be nothing to staple and not one thing to fold or mail.  Telephone lists will be outlawed.

But a finger snap will bring cool drinks, gourmet dinners and rare treats fit for a king.

You ask, who'll serve these privileged few and work for all they're worth?
Why, all those who reaped the benefits and not once volunteered in Earth

SHOW YOUR CARD

It has been reported that a few members have refused to show their membership cards upon entering the Post, and also at the bar when ordering drinks. It is virtually impossible for our volunteers to know all the members by sight. It is a state law and a Club Committee rule that a member must show his or her card when asked. We must follow this rule to protect our liquor license. You are most welcome at your Post and we are happy that you come in, and happy to serve you. Please understand our position. Please do not be abusive to those trying to serve you, as they must comply to the state law and the rules of the Club Committee. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Thank you. We hope that all our members will come and support our functions and events.
