Dear Auxiliary Sisters

It's hot, but you know it won't be long before we will be wishing it was a bit warmer. Oh, well, such is life. Now is the time that we start working on our programs for the 2010-2011 year. Right now I am looking for someone to be on the decorating committee. If you are interested, please let me know.

Our "Book & Craft (white elephant) Sale" will be December 3 & 4. If you have books and white elephants please keep them until after October 31. I'll have some storage area for them, then.

If you are a member and do any of the following things, please let us know so we can report the number of hours, volunteers, and mileage. Help with Boys & Girls Clubs, Teach

Sunday School, recycle papers, teachers' aid, running errands for a neighbor, taking a Veteran to the doctor, spending time with someone lonely or ailing, giving blood, picking up litter along the streets and roadways, working at a food bank, clipping coupons (which we do every other Wednesday at 1pm here at the Post), working at a VA Medical Facility or Hospital. PLEASE REPORT any volunteering you do.

We're going to have a very busy year and will need all the help we can get. Please let us know if you can help.

Ladies Auxiliary Membership

We are now accepting Membership dues for the year 2011. We would greatly appreciate if you would send your 2011 membership dues now to help us achieve 100% as soon as possible. Our VFW Ladies Auxiliary 7968 dues are $16.00 with $2.00 of your dues going to Cancer Aid & Research and enables you to apply for a Cancer Grant. Three to Five hundred dollars for a Cancer Grant may seem modest but it is greatly appreciated by many Sisters fighting Cancer. If you have been a member for one year diagnosed with Cancer please call or pick up a form, from Theresa.

Ladies Auxiliary

Starting in July we will be having Initiation every month for new Members. If you have not been initiated, please feel free to come to the meeting in July or any month after that.

LADIES AUXILIARY

After one year of continuous membership, members who must undergo chemotherapy and other procedures to fight
cancer are eligible for a grant to help cover expenses. There is a limit of two grants per lifetime and grants must be at least 12 months apart. Cancer Grant applications can be obtained by contacting your Auxiliary

Membership in the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States shall be limited to wives, widows, mothers, foster and stepmothers (who have performed the duties of a parent), grandmothers, daughters, granddaughters, foster and stepdaughters (who attained that status prior to age sixteen (16) and for whom the duties of parent were performed), sisters, half sisters, foster and stepsisters (who attained that status prior to age sixteen (16) of the persons who were eligible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. Members must be citizens of the United States and not less than sixteen (16) years old. Women eligible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States shall be eligible for dual membership in the Ladies Auxiliary.
